The Audi Q3 is a premium-built SUV with enjoyable performance and ample space for four passengers and their weekend luggage. Its compact size makes it suitable for both city and highway driving, and with all-wheel drive (AWD), it offers versatility too.
Petrol
4Positives: It has excellent grip and handling due to Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive technology. Gets drive modes such as Eco, Comfort, Auto, and Dynamic that alter driving and steering response. The Audi Q3’s petrol engine is quite silent even when driving fast. The produced 200bhp/320Nm makes the Q3 feel light and eager while driving. This Audi uses a quick-shifting seven-speed automatic transmission. It feels stable and shock-absorbent over uneven roads at high speeds. Despite being an SUV, it can go reasonably fast around corners with ease. The Q3 returns 9.7kmpl in city traffic, and 18.6kmpl at legal highway speeds. This car does 0-100kmph in 7.14 seconds and is quick to overtake other motorists. Effortless to drive and spend time with because it is not a big car; has a light steering. Negatives: There is some body movement over large bumps or potholes at slow speeds. Q3 Convenience and Technology
4Positives: The gesture-controlled bootlid helps ease opening the boot with a foot motion. It gets a two-zone climate control air-conditioner for the driver and front passenger. It is available with auto-dimming mirrors and electric front seats with lumbar adjustment. The automatic curb feature gives a door mirror view of the roadside to the driver in reverse gear. It has a leather/leatherette combo seat upholstery that looks and feels premium. The 40:20:40 rear seat can slide back and forth and the angle can also be adjusted. It is offered with ambient lighting in 30 colours to light up the cabin. The brilliant Virtual Cockpit fully digital/HD instrument cluster shows plenty of information. The Audi phone box improves smartphone reception using the car’s antenna. It is equipped with a wireless smartphone charging system to help with cordless charging. It gets a 180W Audi sound system with ten speakers including a subwoofer and an amplifier. The solid build quality reminds you of German engineering that’s built to last. All the functions operated by the buttons, dials, and switches feel crisp to use. The phone holder placed between the cup holders is a very handy feature. Getting inside the Q3 is easy because it is just the right height – neither too tall nor too short. The 10-inch brightly-lit touchscreen infotainment system has a smooth user interface. Passengers have ample head and legroom in the second-row bench seat. The Audi Q3 is offered with a panoramic sunroof that makes the cabin feel airy. The centre seat backrest can be folded to access the bootspace from inside the cabin. The 500-litre spacious boot also features lights and hooks to hold the baggage in place. Negatives: For the Audi Q3’s price, prospective buyers expect more modern features. The boot has a high-loading lip that makes you lift your luggage higher to load it. It does not get modern features such as ventilated seats and a 360-degree camera. The rear shoulder room for the middle passenger is restrictive; best as a four-seater car. It does not get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is surprising at this price point. Having no Type-A ports brings inconvenience, but there are four Type-C ports. Read more
Exterior and Interior Styling
4Positives: The large single-frame grille with vertical bars between the slim LED headlights looks stylish. It gets an attractive set of rear LED taillights and 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels. The exterior paint shades available on the Q3 include orange, white, grey, black, and blue. Is offered in two interior colours, brown and beige, with lots of shining aluminium /silver trim. The leather-covered steering wheel along with the paddle shifts look premium. All buttons/controls on the car are easily accessible; centre console is tilted towards the driver. The 10-inch Audi MMI touchscreen infotainment system makes the dashboard look stylish. Negatives: At this price point, buyers expect more in terms of the latest in cabin design. The look and feel of some interior plastic has to be more premium to match the price. Read more
Q3 Safety
4Positives: It received a five-star safety rating after the crash tests conducted by Euro NCAP. It comes with safety features, including six airbags, rear-view camera, and ISOFIX child seat anchors. Gets a tyre pressure monitoring system with visual/sound alerts when there is a loss in air pressure. Negatives: Audi does not offer the Q3 SUV with ADAS functionality. Read more
Interior & Cargo Layout: The interior of the Tata Sierra is highly futuristic yet functional. The driver is greeted by a multi-screen cockpit that offers crisp graphics and fluid animations. The layout is clean, with minimal physical buttons. Passengers in the back enjoy excellent legroom, and the large panoramic roof adds to the airy feel of the cabin. Boot space is competitive and expandable via 60:40 split rear folding seats.
Value & Verdict: When comparing the features and driving dynamics against its mid-size competitors, the Sierra represents a solid proposition. Its blend of safety, design flair, and rich features makes it one of the most compelling options for buyers wanting a standout vehicle.
