Petrol
4Positives: The 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine makes 87bhp and 114.7Nm with the iVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission). While the five-speed manual pumps out 82bhp, albeit with the same torque output. It gets two drive modes, normal and sport, offering more versatility with driving experience. Its steering is light and feels quite agile, making it easy while driving through tight city traffic conditions. At higher speeds, the ride quality feels flat and absorbent. Negatives: Since the low-speed ride is a little hard, you can feel the ruts and bumps filter into the cabin. As the steering lacks response around the centre position and is oversensitive at higher speeds, it dampens the driver experience. i20 Convenience and Technology
4Positives: The i20 is available with a voice-enabled electric sunroof, Home-to-Car (H2C) with Alexa and Bluelink-connected features. The front seats have adequate cushioning and offer good overall support. The rear legroom is fantastic and the shoulder room is sufficient to seat three in reasonable comfort. It has a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with a Bose premium seven-speaker system. This car comes with climate control, rear AC vents, wireless charging, Type-C fast charging, and multi-phone Bluetooth connectivity. It is equipped with cruise control, start/stop button, and seven ambient sounds of nature. Overall, the Hyundai i20 is as spacious as the roomiest cars in its segment and the 311 litres of bootspace is sufficient. The steering is adjustable for rake and reach, and combined with the excellent outward view, will aid beginner drivers. Negatives: The rear bench seat’s under-thigh support could have been better. i20 Exterior and Interior Styling
4Positives: The Hyundai i20’s attractive grille along with its LED headlamps and signature DRLs give it a sharp nose. It is available with a dual-tone black-grey cabin along with soothing blue ambient light and metal finish inside door handles. The profile and rear section are characterised by 16-inch diamond-cut alloys, puddle lamps and stylish Z-shaped LED taillamps. The dashboard boasts a clean and flowing design and we especially liked the vent-like design that runs across it. It’s offered with chrome outside door handles, turn indicators on the door mirrors, and a shark fin antenna. It has dual-tone seats with i20 branding, leather-wrapped D-cut steering, and a gear knob. The monotone colours include Amazon Grey, Fiery Red, Atlas White, Titan Grey, Typhoon Silver, and Starry Night. The dual-tone paint shades are Fiery Red with Abyss Black roof and Atlas White with Abyss Black roof. Negatives: The i20’s plastic quality does not look its best when compared to the finest in the segment. The lack of any soft-touch materials inside the i20’s cabin is not a good feeling. Read more
i20 Safety
4Positives: It has standard safety features such as six airbags, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, and hill-start assist. This car gets a tyre pressure monitoring system, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), auto headlamps, and driver rear view monitor (DRVM). It is offered with impact-sensing auto door unlock, speed-sensing auto door lock, three-point seatbelts, and a rear camera with dynamic guidelines. Negatives: This hatchback does not benefit from any ADAS features. The two airbag-equipped Hyundai i20 scored a three-star safety rating in the GNCAP. Read more
Interior & Cargo Layout: The interior of the Tata Sierra is highly futuristic yet functional. The driver is greeted by a multi-screen cockpit that offers crisp graphics and fluid animations. The layout is clean, with minimal physical buttons. Passengers in the back enjoy excellent legroom, and the large panoramic roof adds to the airy feel of the cabin. Boot space is competitive and expandable via 60:40 split rear folding seats.
Value & Verdict: When comparing the features and driving dynamics against its mid-size competitors, the Sierra represents a solid proposition. Its blend of safety, design flair, and rich features makes it one of the most compelling options for buyers wanting a standout vehicle.
