Petrol 1.0L Turbo
The Renault Duster 2026 is powered by a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine (dubbed Turbo TCe 100 by Renault) producing 99 bhp and 160 Nm of torque. We reviewed this unit. Its performance is smooth and linear, building speed progressively and predictably. The chassis also helps improve the ride handling and the feel of its performance. Torque increases between 1000rpm and 2500rpm, offering a strong and usable mid-range. It is spirited until around 4500rpm, perfect for city runs and effortless highway cruising. Its acceleration isn't lightning fast, but it rarely feels underpowered. This FWD SUV's powertrain can be had with a six-speed manual transmission. The gearing ratios are turned for Indian driving conditions. It's very versatile, it can coast around 20kpmh in third gear happily, reducing the need for frequent shifts. It gets three driving modes in Eco, Comfort, and Perso. It also gets an engine start-stop button. Petrol 1.3L Turbo
The Duster 2026 features a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine, dubbed Turbo TCe 160 by Renault, delivering 160bhp of power and 280Nm of torque. This powertrain comes equipped with a six-speed manual or DCT transmission options for a stronger highway driving experience. We tested the manual version. Being a four-cylinder turbo engine, it's extremely refined with no vibrations at idle or low speed, and the clutch also feels light with good travel. It gets two driving modes, Eco and Comfort. Eco softens the throttle while comfort works greatly across city and highway conditions. It also adjusts the steering weight for further engagement. But the real fun begins when the Duster is pushed, it comes alive with a satisfactory rumble as the turbo delivers the kick near the higher revs. Its power delivery is linear and strong. The manual gearbox is particularly enjoyable, with smooth shifts and engaging output. The refinement, linear power and smooth shifts come together to make the Duster a driver's car. The suspension feels slightly firm during low-speed city drives, but it's not uncomfortable, more like thorough road feedback. It also handles uneven roads quite nicely. In the twisty bits and elevation changes, it maintained composure in a way that feels confident and easy to enjoy. Its NVH levels stay well within the comfort zone, with very little vibrations (only at higher revs) and good control over road and wind noise.
