The Hyundai Aura is a small yet spacious, modern and comfortable sedan. The driving dynamics and cabin experience come together to make it a viable compact sedan choice.
Petrol
4.1Positives: The Hyundai Aura features a 1.2-litre petrol engine that generates 82bhp and 113.8Nm, mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a five-speed AMT gearbox. During CarWale tests, the power delivery felt mostly predictable and overall smooth to drive. There is a strong response from the engine from around 2,500rpm to about 5,000rpm. It has decent low-end torque where one can easily go over a speed breaker in third gear. At higher speeds, the engine noise in the Aura can be heard somewhat noticeably inside the cabin. It manages to do zero to 60kmph and zero to 100kmph runs in 5.33 seconds and 12.33 seconds, respectively. The soft ride quality ensures broken roads, undulations, and bumps are absorbed at moderate speeds. Its steering feels light and its small footprint makes it easy to manoeuvre through city traffic conditions. Negatives: At highway speeds, the Aura’s ride quality feels bouncy. The steering does not weigh up as it should as speeds increase. Convenience and Technology
4.2Positives: It is available with a Type-C USB charger, wireless phone charger, and cruise control. Short drivers will find an appropriate driving position due to the height-adjustable driver’s seat. There is a 3.5-inch multi-information display on the instrument cluster, push-button start and stop, and tyre pressure monitoring. It has an eight-inch touchscreen audio player with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and voice recognition. The second row has a centrally placed AC vent and a 12V outlet for charging convenience. Storage can be found in the centre console via the two cup holders and a small slot for a smartphone or wallet and there are dual cup holders on the rear centre armrest. Negatives: Tall drivers will find it challenging to find a comfortable position due to the fixed headrests. As the rear seat height is marginally low, getting in and out of the Aura can become cumbersome. Three adults will find the rear seat in the Aura to be a squeeze. Read more
Exterior and Interior Styling
3.9Positives: It gets Z-shaped LED taillamps, bootlid spoiler, chrome garnish on the bootlid and outside door handles, turn indicators on door mirrors, and a shark-fin antenna. The dual-tone theme combined with the footwell lighting and light-coloured upholstery imparts a premium feel. The large grille with a glossy black finish, projector headlamps, inverted L-shaped LED DRLs, and 15-inch diamond cut alloys are eye-catching. The textured dashboard and centre console are finished in a shade of brown that looks exceedingly good. The Aura is available in paint shades such as Typhoon Silver, Starry Night, Teal Blue, Atlas White, Fiery Red, and Titan Grey. Negatives: We feel that the rear portion of the Hyundai Aura looks bulky and displeasing. Read more
Safety
3.9Positives: It comes with standard features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, three-point seatbelts and reminders for all seats, rear parking sensors, and an emergency stop signal. There are functions like electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill-start assist, speed-sensing auto door lock, and impact-sensing auto door unlock. It also gets automatic headlamps, rear camera with static guidelines, and an ISOFIX child seat anchor. Negatives: The Hyundai Aura does not have a safety rating from the NCAP agency. This compact sedan does not benefit from any ADAS functionalities. Read more
CNG
4.1The 1.2-litre petrol engine in CNG form makes 68bhp and 95.2Nm and is available only with a five-speed manual transmission. Key Specifications: Fuel Type CNG Engine 1197 cc Transmission Manual Mileage (User Reported) 25 km/kg Power 68 bhp Torque 95 Nm Read more
Interior & Cargo Layout: The interior of the Tata Sierra is highly futuristic yet functional. The driver is greeted by a multi-screen cockpit that offers crisp graphics and fluid animations. The layout is clean, with minimal physical buttons. Passengers in the back enjoy excellent legroom, and the large panoramic roof adds to the airy feel of the cabin. Boot space is competitive and expandable via 60:40 split rear folding seats.
Value & Verdict: When comparing the features and driving dynamics against its mid-size competitors, the Sierra represents a solid proposition. Its blend of safety, design flair, and rich features makes it one of the most compelling options for buyers wanting a standout vehicle.
